Examples in interferometric processing of L-band PALSAR datasets across the permafrost terrains of Alaska. For active-layer and permafrost change detection we need to be careful because 1) the changes are non-linear, non-stationary and episodic 2) pay careful attention to topography phase reduction 3) think of PV=nRT in regards to the contributions of the lower troposphere to altering the optical path of the insar pair 4) do the Error Budget (Better to know the error(s) than the error(s) to know you.) and 5) check the literature for Real Measurements to compare.
